A Community Altar for Collective Grief, Gratitude & Grace
Join us at the Alberta House on Sunday May 28. Allow yourself to flow through the space, feeling your way through the various stories converging at this place. Whether the Vanport flood itself, the ongoing displacement Portland-wide, or something very personal, we invite you to carve some time to inhabit this space as our altar dedicated to our collective grief, gratitude, and grace. We hope to honor those who have passed into the ancestral realms, deepen into the present moment, and dream into the future.
Throughout the day, you are invited to connect with the Collective Altar program by interacting with the altars, music and with each other. We will host a special sunset ceremony from 7-8.30pm.
Please bring a small offering to the altar from the earth. This could be a stone, flower, twig, pine cone…. Something that helps tether your prayer to the collective prayer we are weaving together.
