Join us at City Hall to commemorate the anniversary of the 1948 Memorial Day flood that destroyed Vanport.
On May 30, 1948, a flood destroyed the city of Vanport, Oregon's second largest city and the largest federal housing project in the country. Join flood survivors and the Vanport Mosaic community in remembrance of this tragedy that killed at least 15 people and left 18,700 people homeless. During this City Council session we will hear memories and Portland's Mayor will read the City's Proclamation for a Vanport Day of Remembrance.
