Sound Postcards

With a quarter of the city’s population, and 23 % of its residents born in another country,
East Portland is the most diverse and rapidly growing section of the city.

Vanport Mosaic pop-up exhibit Sound Postcards from East Portland offers a glimpse into the rich communities who call East Portland home with five large signs featuring residents' stories, local initiatives, and interesting facts about the area. Point your phone camera to the QR Code on each sign, and you will be able to listen to voices and sounds of community life. We launched it during the Outer Northeast Portland Sunday Parkways 2019, in conjunction with the annual WALK with Refugees and Immigrants, and it is now on display at the East Portland Action Plan office (1017 NE 117th Avenue, Portland, Oregon). It will continue to travel and expand.
